Joyce Rose McGrath, 85, of Bear, DE passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family early Saturday morning, June 14, 2014.

Born on June 8, 1929 in Allentown, PA, she was the daughter of the late William Mackes and Anna Gay Mackes.

Joyce dedicated many years of service to Bell Telephone as a service representative.  She was an avid crafter who loved sharing her many handmade gifts with others.  In her free time, she enjoyed reading and square dancing.

She was a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers and the Phoenix Fellowship Book Club.

Joyce will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by the many lives she touched.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. McGrath in 1993.

Joyce leaves a legacy of fond memories to her children, William H. McGrath (Barbara), Wayne S. McGrath both of Bear, Gary E. McGrath of Springfield, PA; Gail A. Trumbull of Bear, Susan J. Powell (James) of Wallingford, PA and Kathy M. Bell (Roy) of Earleville, MD; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, where friends may visit with her family from 10:00 – 11:00 am.  She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Edgewood Memorial Park, 325 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills, PA.

    Your mom was a very special lady and loved by everyone who knew her. Please find comfort in knowing that your Mom is no longer in pain and that she is at peace now. Also, please know that I share in your grief and extend my deepest sympathy to all of the family. My life has been blessed by knowing Mom Joyce.
