Matthew Smith is the owner of Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes and Crematory. While growing up in New Castle County, Matthew observed his father Harvey’s deep commitment to his family, business and community. Matthew is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and DE State Funeral Directors Association. He is very active and enjoys playing sports, hunting, fishing, trips to the Caribbean and, most of all, spending time with his family.

Mitchell Jackson

Mitchell A. Jackson,
Co-VP of Operations,
Licensed Funeral Director

Mitch has been with Spicer-Mullikin since 1992 and is a licensed funeral director in both PA and DE, and a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and DE State Funeral Directors Association. Mitch served as Past President of the Wilmington Manor Rotary Club. He lives in Middletown with his wife, Lisa and enjoys golfing, swimming, and boating.
John Meyer

John E. Meyer,
Co-VP of Operations,
Licensed Funeral Director

Raised in Middletown, John earned his Mortuary Science degree from the Community College of Baltimore County and has been with Spicer-Mullikin since 2001. He is a licensed funeral director in both DE and MD, and a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and DE State Funeral Directors Association. John enjoys hunting and snowmobiling and is the proud father of a teenage daughter.

Bill King

William E. King,
Pre-Planning Manager,
Licensed Funeral Director

Bill has been licensed to provide insurance services to clients since 1981. He is also a licensed funeral director in Delaware. Bill is a member of the Rotary Club of Newark and is active with the Chapel Street Players (community theatre). He has three children and eight grandchildren and enjoys tennis, golf, and gardening. Bill is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and DE State Funeral Directors Association. Mary Etta Russum

Mary Etta Russum,
Licensed Funeral Director

Mary Etta has been in the funeral industry since 1997 and joined Spicer-Mullikin in 2014. She is licensed in DE and MD, and is also a Certified Pre-Planning Consultant through the NFDA. Mary Etta is a member of the Rotary Club of Southern New Castle County, the National Funeral Directors Association, and DE State Funeral Directors Association. She enjoys spending time with her two children and granddaughter.

Anita Reed

Anita L. Reed,
Director of Communications and Family Support

Anita joined the Spicer-Mullikin family in 2008. She attended Newark High School and the University of Delaware. Anita is the proud mom of three teenagers, whom she describes as ‘fantastic!’ Anita, our resident athlete, enjoys running, cooking, gardening and reading. Rachelle Stout

Rachelle R. Stout,
Funeral Director

Rachelle has been a funeral director with Spicer-Mullikin since 2002. She’s a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and DE State Funeral Directors Association. Rachelle enjoys mountain biking, painting, and making jewelry. Rachelle and her husband Jeff have a son and a daughter.

D. Michele Fontana

D. Michele Fontana,
Administrative Manager

Michele has been the backbone of administrative management for Spicer-Mullikin since 1999. She enjoys playing rummy and dominoes and hosting family get-togethers. Michele has four children and five grandchildren. Having all the generations of the Fontana family under one roof remains her greatest pleasure.

Lauren Goffredo

Lauren Goffredo,
Office Manager

Raised in Delaware, Lauren is a 2009 graduate of Christiana High School. Lauren has spent most of her career in customer service because she enjoys helping others. She is honored to serve her community during their greatest time of need. Lauren joined Spicer-Mullikin in 2015, and in her leisure time, enjoys being outdoors and traveling.

Heather Suchanec-Cooper

Heather Suchanec-Cooper,
Aftercare Coordinator and Grief Specialist

Heather co-facilitates our grief support groups, providing support to individuals as they navigate grief. She joined Spicer-Mullikin in 2011. Heather lives in Newark with her family and likes to walk, hike, read, cook and volunteer. Taryn Huber

Taryn Huber,
Administrative Assistant

Taryn received a degree in funeral service from Northampton Community College. A lifelong resident of Wilmington, Taryn graduated from Glasgow High School, and has worked in the funeral service field since she was 17. Taryn joined Spicer-Mullikin in 2015.

Katherine “Kit” Angell,
Grief Services Consultant

Kit has worked with grieving families since 1986. She holds a master’s in social work and was the founder of SAM (Survivors of Accident and Murder). She has 3 sons, 2 daughters, and twin 5-year-old granddaughters. Kit likes to sing, read and travel.
