Agnes T. Kendra

Agnes T. Kendra, age 88, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at her home on August 12, 2015.
Agnes was born in Hazleton, PA, on February 14, 1927, the daughter of the late Stephen Rusnock and Veronica Sofianek Rusnock. In her early years she worked for a sewing factory in Hazleton. One of her favorite pastimes was dancing. She met John, the love of her life, while attending a local dance, and they were married on July 7, 1962. Together they had two daughters and Agnes spent many years as a homemaker, caring for her family. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish for over 50 years, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her loving family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, John M. Kendra, who died in 2005; and her brother, John Rusnock. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Theresa Toy and husband, Ken of Bear, DE, and Lorraine Kendra and husband, Edward P. Kostowski III of Oakland, CA; 4 grandchildren, Kenny Toy and wife, Britney, Alexis Shupe and husband, Jared, Justin Toy, and Jonathan N. Kendra; great grandson, Shane Toy; sister, Mary Hyziak of Hazleton, PA; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Agnes will always be remembered for her thoughtfulness and generosity to others. Our memories of her will forever and always remain in our hearts.
Agnes’ family would like to offer a special thank you to her friends and wonderful neighbors especially, Pauline and Charlie Mutchka, Dolly and Marty Ziegler, Mary and Richard Simpson, Larry Gocella, and Maryann and Scott Nelson. Bless you for all of the love, compassion, and care you gave to our mother throughout the years.
A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Monday evening, August 24, 2015 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Tuesday morning, August 25, 2015 at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
