Albert F. Mack

Mr. Albert F. Mack, fondly known as Booksie and Albie, age 91, of Newark, DE, formerly of New Castle, DE, and North East, MD, died on Sunday, June 6, 2010.

A native Delawarean, Mr. Mack was born in Wilmington on January 8, 1919, son of the late Anna (Tulowitzski) and Albert Mack. He proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II as a member of the 70th Infantry Division and participated in both the Central Europe and Rhineland Campaigns. Following his honorable discharge from military duty, he would go on to a career with the DuPont Company, where he retired as a foreman at the Chambers Works site after 40 years of service.

Active in his community, Mr. Mack was a longtime member of Joseph B. Stahl Post #30 American Legion. He enjoyed sports throughout his life, especially baseball. As a young man, he played football in the former Defiance League and with his team won the 1939 Delaware State Championship. For many years, he was a season ticket holder for University of Delaware football, where he and his many friends were avid tailgaters. He also enjoyed fishing and crabbing.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Dorothy E. Cline Mack; children, Jeffrey Mack (Kimberly Zellers) of North East, MD; Deborah Mack of Moore, OK; Terrence Mack (Nancy Rooks) of S. Riding, VA; Elaine Herron (Hugh) of Egg Harbor, NJ; Alfred Michael Mack (Sarah) of Newark, DE; and Robert Booth (Bonnie) of Bear, DE; sister, Anna Terry of Tucson, AZ; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Sunday, June 13, 2010, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A committal service will be held at 11 am on Monday, June 14, 2010, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Joseph B. Stahl Post #30, Youth Program Fund, 3 E. Jackson Avenue, New Castle, DE, 19720.
