Albert Franklin Gray
Born September 22, 1920
Albert Franklin Gray, known fondly as “Al”, age 93, of New Castle, DE and formerly of Newark, DE and Leesburg, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2014.
Born in West Chester, PA on September 22, 1920, Al was a son of the late Albert Franklin Gray, Sr. and Mabel Meredith Gray. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. Al made his career as a manager with the Container Corporation of America, retiring in 1981 after 35 years of dedicated employment.
A devout Christian, Al gave of his time and talents to his church and served as a deacon at Haines Creek Baptist Church while living in Florida. He was a current member of Fairwinds Baptist Church. Al was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing golf in his leisure time. He was a devoted and loving family man who will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Inez Marie Gray, who passed away in 2008, daughter, Alberta Dougherty, his brother, James Gray and sisters, Mabel Willon and Frances Brothers. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Munzert and husband Fred and Pat McCallister and husband Mac; brother, Charles Gray; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday morning, May 2, 2014, at The Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where family and friends may visit from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.

I am so sorry for the loss of PopPop Gray. I will always hold that loving man dear to my heart. I remember the first time I met him and Mrs. Gray…..The way he took care of her and just his presence
reminded me so much of my late father. I took to him right away. He always made me smile and I enjoyed visiting with him. I thank you all for allowing me to be a part of his life. I will miss him.

To all the family,
I am so terribly sorry for your loss. Reading Mr. Gray’s obituary, he had a full and long life, but I know that doens’t make it any easier for those left behind. From my memories of him, he was a big man, full of life, and so much laughter and love. I know he will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all as you go through these first few days without him along with the long road ahead.

Dear Pat, Mac and all your family, I know your hearts are heavy from missing your Dad but also joyful for knowing he is with Jesus and those he loved so much who have gone on before him. The couple of times I met him he was such a sweet man and I am glad I did get to meet him. He has been through a lot of pain and suffering and now that is all over and he is at peace and happier than he could ever be here.
