Alfred Janaman, age 97, lifetime resident of Port Penn, DE, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016.

A native Delawarean, Mr. Janaman was born in Wilmington on September 6, 1918, and was the son of the late Anthony and Conseta Janaman. He was a proud 4 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. A skilled and hardworking carpenter by trade, Mr. Janaman was a member of Local Union No. 626.

Active in his community, he was a member of the Port Penn Volunteer Fire Company. Mr. Janaman enjoyed crabbing and fishing in his leisure time. Above all else, he will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband and will be dearly missed by family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Janaman was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances (Blansfield) Janaman, who passed away in 1994. He is survived by his nephew, Albert Janaman.

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:30 am until 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Port Penn Road, Port Penn, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s R.C. Church, P.O. Box 544, Delaware City, DE 19706.
