Alice Joannides, age 88, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.

Alice was born in Wilmington, DE on December 1, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Norman McAllister and Martha (Nichols) Passwaters. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her great grandson, Chance. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Joseph J. Joannides; son, John Joannides (Sharon); grandchildren, Joseph Joannides (Kristie), Stephanie McPeak (Richard) and Michael Joannides (Ferris); great grandchildren, Jack, Hope and Alexis Joannides; nephews, Terry Pennell, Sr. (Janet) and John Rayias (Linda); great niece, Stephanie Thomas (Jordan); great nephew, Terry Pennell, Jr.; and best friend of 52 years, Rosie Tuttle.

A visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Monday morning, January 9, 2017 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Faithful Friends, 12 Germay Drive, Wilmington, DE 19804.

  • Joe, I am so sorry for your loss. I have such great memories of Alice and my Mother working together for so many years. Alice continued to stay in touch even after my Mother’s passing. She was a beautiful person inside and out. I will truly miss her.

    Food Fair/Pantry Pride. People always thought they were sisters, because they wore
    their hair the same way. Always remember it being a family atmosphere especially
