Alice Mae Walker, age 83, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014, surrounded by her family
A native Delawarean, Mrs. Walker worked for the Delaware State Hospital as a Mini-Micro Systems Specialist and at the New Castle Community Mental Health Center in Newark as a Management Information Systems Administrator. She retired in 1996.

Active in community affairs, she was a past officer in the Garfield Park Civic Association, Rose Hill School P.T.A., Highland West Civic Association, and Marshallton School District P.T.A. She was a past School Board candidate and 8th Senatorial District candidate.Her love of music led her to participation in choir work with Wilmington Manor Methodist Church, Holloway Terrace Baptist Church, St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, The Circuit Rider Choir, The Orpheus Club Girlfriends, The Delaware Oratorio Society, and Berea Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Walker enjoyed camping and was co-director of Asbury Methodist Church’s Camp Red Mill in Cecilton, Maryland in the early 1960’s.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Clifford C. Walker, Sr.; 3 sons, Clifford Charles Jr. (Bonnie) of Wilmington, DE, Glenn David (Patricia) of Middletown, DE, and Dr. Eric Alfred (Alexia) of Hummelstown, PA; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday morning, May 2, 2014, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
