Andrew J. Pavlick, Sr.

Born July 21, 1932

Andrew J. Pluto Pavlick, Sr., age 82, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2015.

Born in Larksville, PA on July 21, 1932, Mr. Pavlick was a son of the late Andrew J. Pavlick and Stella (Tolarski) Pavlick. He graduated from Larksville High School in 1951 and would later proudly serve his country as a member of the U.S. Army. A locomotive engineer by trade, Mr. Pavlick began his career with the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1955 and retired with Amtrak in 1994 after 39 years of combined service.

He was a longtime parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church in New Castle. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching sports, horseracing and visiting the beach. Mr. Pavlick liked spending time outdoors doing yardwork and tending to his garden. A devoted and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, he was happiest in the company of his beloved family.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Pavlick was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Pavlick. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Gertrude A. (Maher) Pavlick; children, Andrew J. Pavlick, Jr. (Donna) of Middletown, Cindy Marando (Michael) of Middletown, and Sandy Hearne (William) of Townsend; 9 grandchildren, Andrew J. Pavlick III, Joseph Pavlick, John Pavlick, Brooke Marando, Michael Marando II, Calli Marando, Jacob Vansant, William Hearne and Daniel Hearne; and 1 great granddaughter, Giabella Ferrante.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Sunday evening, May 17, 2015 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N,. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 Noon on Monday, May 18, 2015, at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, Fifth and Harmony Streets, New Castle. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
