Anna M. Snitzer Drahuschak - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Anna M. Snitzer Drahuschak

Born March 18, 1925

Anna M. Snitzer Drahuschak, age 88, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2013, while surrounded by her devoted daughters and loving family.
Born and raised in St. Clair, Pennsylvania on March 18, 1925, Anna was a daughter of the late Charles Snitzer and Bertha Futcho Snitzer, who were both born in Czechoslovakia and arrived here in 1921.
Anna was always a hard worker, holding several jobs throughout her life, but the one she spoke most proudly of, was being an arc welder on Piper Cub planes during WWII. She was a devout Catholic, who faithfully watched mass on television. An avid Lawrence Welk fan, she never missed a show on Saturday night. Anna possessed an amazing memory and was a gifted story teller. Above all else, Anna was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, who loved unconditionally and with her whole heart. Her family will take solace knowing that she is at peace and will be watching over each of them.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses, doctors, caregivers, and aides of Vitas Hospice, for the excellent care given to Anna during her illness.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nicholas Drahuschak, who passed away in 1991; brothers, Charles, John, Nicholas, and Baby Georgie; sisters, Bertha, Mary, and Margaret; grandson, Gary Robinson; and granddaughter, Barbara Grand. She is survived by her sister, Rosalie Tasselli; daughters, Elaine, Toni, Barbara (Michael), Eileen, Pamela, and Nicolina (Jack); 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and her faithful canine companion, Daisy.
Friends may call from 6 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:45 am on Friday, November 22, 2013, at the Holy Family R.C. Church, E. Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark, DE. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice, 100 Commerce, Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713.

  • Mommy,

I know that you are at peace and in a better place now, but my heart is broken. Thank you so much for everything you have done for me and for being the best mom that anyone could ever have and for giving me all the love that you did. I love you and I will miss you so very, very much. Hugs and kisses forever.

  • I am very lucky to have had the privilege of knowing the majority of my great grandparents in my life time. I have many memories with my beloved great grandmother, and am very thankful for the time I recently got to spend with her. As ill as she was she always had a smile on her face, and spent many hours telling me old stories of her mother, father, brothers and sisters. She was one of the nicest, purest, people I have ever met. I am sad to see her go, but happy to know that she is now peaceful and finally with our Pop Pop. I cannot imagine how hard it has been for my grandmother and her many sisters. My thoughts and prayers are with you guys, and we wish we could be there. RIP my beautiful Mom Mom D. You will be greatly missed, and I will forever cherish my 25 years I had with you.

  • Mrs. D was a remarkable woman who had a kind heart. She will be missed. My prayers go out to Nicki and her sisters!

  • May you rest in peace! You are a very special person and I will always have you in my thoughts!

  • Although I cannot be there with all of you, please know that I am thinking of you all and praying that our Father holds you all in his loving arms to help you make it through this great loss. Mom-mom was a wonderful person and I have alot of good memories of times shared. She will surely be missed but I feel very blessed to have known her and shared in some of her days here on earth. God bless you all.

  • I’m very sorry, for the lost of your Mom. She was always a wonderful person. I grew up many years next door in Chestnut Hill’s. I have very fond memories of your family. May God comfort your family at this sad time. Deepest Sympathy. Sue Ann (Wersinger) Samluk
