Anna Skura

Born January 20, 1914

Anna Skura, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the age of 101.

A lifelong Delawarean, Anna was born in Wilmington on January 20, 1914, and was a daughter of the late Theodore Stecki and Catherine Kuzio Stecki.

She was a loving wife and mother who devoted her life to caring for her family. An excellent cook and superb hostess, Anna adored entertaining friends and planning family gatherings, doing so well into her 90’s. She enjoyed spending time outdoors working in her yard and in her leisure time, traveling to various locales. Anna will be remembered for her quick sense of humor and worldly wisdom. She will be dearly missed by all.

In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Mitchell Joseph Skura and siblings, Stephen Stecki, Mary Kohl, Julia Marushchak and Olga Radulski. She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Poore; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and great nephews; and her best friend, Theresa Wisniewski.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Tuesday morning, February 3, 2015, at Holy Spirit R.C. Church, 12 Winder Road, Garfield Park, New Castle, DE 19720, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Spirit R.C. Church, at the address listed above.

  • Dianne, I am writing this from Valparaíso, Chile where I spend my winters. When you lived on the east side of Wilmington across the street from George Grey elementary school I was your next door neighbor. This was 60 years ago, My family moved when I was in the second grade. We lived in the only single(non-row) house in the neighborhood. I remember that your Mother cooked you ravioli and you didn´t like it so she brought it over for me to eat. I never even Heard of ravioli before then.
