Annabell C. Payne

Born November 14, 1922

Annabell C. Payne, age 92, of Newark, DE and formerly of Williamsburg, VA, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 27, 2014.

She was born in Laurel, DE on November 14, 1922 and was a daughter of the late Paul and Marion Collins.
Mrs. Payne was a longtime resident of Toano, VA and a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Lanexa, VA. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Pocahontas Chapter in Williamsburg. Mrs. Payne moved to Delaware 4 years ago to reside at Churchman Village where she enjoyed making new friends with both residents and staff.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carroll W. Payne, who died on May 6, 1996 and by 1 sister and 3 brothers. Mrs. Payne is survived by her daughters, Barbara Conti and husband, Robert of Scottsdale, AZ and Carolyn Loftus and husband, Dennis of Newark, DE; sister, Shirley Kuszai and husband, Joe of East Lansing, MI; 3 grandsons, Chris Cottingham and wife, Sherri of Portsmouth, VA, Eric Loftus and wife, Jennifer of Oxford, PA and Brian Loftus and wife, Lisa of North Myrtle Beach, SC; and 3 great grandchildren, Lauren, Andrew and Abby Loftus.

The family wishes to thank the Atrium staff and residents of Churchman Village for their love and support and for making Annabell feel at home and part of their family. Additionally, a special thanks to her loving aides, Cookie Ayala Trudy Mutjwavuka, Elizabeth Watson and Audrey Seals and to Cindy Vaughters, RN of Seasons Hospice and Dr. Morgan-Guveia.

A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Friday afternoon, January 2, 2015, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:30 pm until 3:00 pm. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Life Community Church, Stephen Ministry Program, 750 Otts Chapel Road, Newark, DE 19713 or Seasons Hospice of Delaware 220 Continental Drive, Ste. 101 Newark, DE 19713.
