Annemarie W. McNeal, age 81, longtime resident of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 19, 2016, at Churchman Village, where she resided.

Born in Nürnberg, Germany on July 28, 1935, Mrs. McNeal was the daughter of the late David Weber and Kundi (Gunde) Bauer. She made her career as a manager for Eckerds Pharmacy in Newark, retiring after 25 years of dedicated service to her customers.

Proud of her German heritage, Mrs. McNeal was a longtime member of the Delaware Saengerbund. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting in her leisure time. Above all else, Mrs. McNeal was happiest in the company of her beloved husband, family and friends.

Mrs. McNeal is survived by her husband of 58 years, Willard E. McNeal; brother, Oskar Weber of Germany; and niece, Claudia of Germany.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday morning, August 31, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, where a visitation will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

  • Rest in Peace AnneMarie. Surely hope there is german beer in heaven. I’ve known you all of my life and have so many special memories over the years. So hard to imagine you not being here. Hope you and Mom are together again, drinking coffee and catching up on all the news. You were absolutely a special person and you will be dearly missed.
