Annice B. Correll

Born April 20, 1921

Annice B. Correll, age 95, of Newark, DE, went home to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 28, 2016.

A native Delawarean, Mrs. Correll was born in Wilmington on April 20, 1921, and was a daughter of the late Clarence and Anna (Crather) Burris. After graduating from Conrad High School, she assisted in the WWII effort by working at the former Bellanca Airfield in New Castle. Mrs. Correll was a talented homemaker who devoted her life to caring for her family.

A woman of strong faith, Mrs. Correll was a charter member of Berea Presbyterian Church in Hockessin where she faithfully worshiped for over 50 years, taught bible classes and cared for many generations in the church’s nursery. She enjoyed reading her bible daily. A devoted and loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. Correll adored her family. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandson were her life and her presence will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Correll was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Correll; daughter, Sharen Chesseroni; brothers, Clarence Burris, Jr. and David Burris; and sisters, Mary Hires and Doris Stewart. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Molina of Newark and Virginia Kandrat (Richard) of Kunkletown, PA; brother, Neil Burris of Newark; sister, June Stackhouse of Panama; 5 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Saturday morning, October 8, 2016 at the Berea Presbyterian Church, 957 Old Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE, where a funeral service will follow at 11 am. Interment will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery, Lancaster Ave. and DuPont Rd., Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 248 E. Chestnut Hill Rd., Suite 4, Newark, DE 19713.

  • We love you Gran and can not wait till we see you again. Thank you for your wisdom, love and teaching us the way of the Lord. You taught not only me but everyone you meet about the grace and mercy of God through his son Jesus, through him we have eternal life. I know you are having a blast with your friends and family, see you soon.

  • Gran, you were such a special person and we will miss our visits with you. You were such an inspiration to everyone and your devotion to your family was beautiful.

  • So very sorry to hear about the passing of Gran. She was a pillar of Berea Pres.Church and a wonderful born-again believer. She was an example to all who met her as to what a true Christian should be. Her passing is our loss but heaven’s gain.
