Anthony A. Oset

Born August 22, 1921

Anthony A. Oset, age 92, of Bear, DE passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2014.

Tony was born in Bradford, PA on August 22, 1921. He honorably served his country during WWII in the US Navy. Tony made his career as a supervisor, working first for Boeing, then with General Motors, and lastly for Chrysler, where he worked until his retirement from the company. He would later take a part time position as the supervisor of maintenance at Lums Pond, a job he enjoyed for over 15 years. Tony was a longtime member of the Port Penn and Chesapeake City VFW’s and the Elkton Moose Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Brown. Tony is survived by his son, Steven Oset; grandchildren, Rev. Jason A. Sica (Katie) of Wilmington and Michelle L. Sica (Stephen Hoover, Sr.) also of Wilmington; step granddaughter, Sharon Brown of Houston, TX; son-in-law, Charles A. Brown of Bear; and 4 great grandchildren, Kylie, Naomi, Stephen Jr., and Christian.

A committal service will be held at 11 am on Monday morning, February 3, 2014, at The Chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. ****IMPORTANT UPDATE: Due to the impending storm, this service has been rescheduled for 10 am, Tuesday morning, February 11, 2014 at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tony’s memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 183 South Street, Camden, DE 19934.

  • Tony was my supervisor in the tool room when I started in the apprentice program in 1971. Tony and his boss Ronnie Harrah were instrumental in my eventually getting into the engineering department. Thanks Tony. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE. and GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY.
