Anthony C. Outten
Mr. Anthony C. Outten, known fondly as Tony, age 54, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2011, at his home.
A native Delawarean, Tony was born in Wilmington on April 26, 1957. He made his career as a professional vehicle operator with the Delaware State Hospital in New Castle, where he proudly served two terms as president of Union Local #640 before his retirement. In 2005, he and his brother established Reds and Sons Auto Repair in New Castle.
Tony had a variety of interests, including gardening around his home each year and cheering for his favorite teams, the Phillies and the Eagles. He enjoyed family gatherings, especially for pool parties and barbeques, and delighted in his role as a second dad to his beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, Nelson E. Reds Outten, Sr., grandparents, Anthony C. and Mae K. Machi and Ernest S. and Amanda M. Outten, and great nephew, Zachary J. Street. He is survived by his mother, Mary Theresa Machi Outten; sister, Deborah M. Parker (John) of Smyrna; brother, Nelson E. Outten, Jr. (Linda) of New Castle; nieces and nephews, Angel T. Street (Scott), who was also his goddaughter, Nelson E. Outten III, Nicholas S. Outten, and Lindsay E. Ling Ling Outten (fianc, Walter E. Lester); and great nieces and nephews, Theresa-Lyn T.T. Outten, Nelson E. Bud Bud Outten IV, Aaliyah T. Street, Joseph A. Street, Ezekiel S. Street, and Olivia M. Missy Mary Street; and his pet Rottweiler, BooBoo, and his pet Chihuahua, Penny.
A beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, Tony will be deeply missed and will always remain in the hearts of the many people who loved him.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday, June 3, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 4, 2011, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where a second visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.
