Died: 8/19/2011

Mr. Anthony Lee Favre, age 51, of New Castle, DE, went to be with the angels above on Friday, August 19, 2011.

Born in West Chester, PA, on September 3, 1959, Mr. Favre was a graduate of DeLaWarr High School and proudly served his country in the Air National Guard from 1980 to 1984. In civilian life, he made his career with Wilmington Piece Dye, where he worked for 25 years. For the past five years, he was employed as a professional guard with Conmac Security.

A gifted auto mechanic throughout his life, Mr. Favre delighted in mastering all sorts of difficult car repairs and was widely admired for the fine work he did restoring his 57 Chevy. He was also a very talented artist. He was most proud, however, of his role as a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather; he was always at his happiest when spending time with his beloved family and his many good friends.

Well known for his kind-hearted and genial, easygoing manner, Mr. Favre will be deeply missed and never forgotten. He is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Helen Cunningham Favre; daughters, Stephanie Favre Long and husband, Ronald D. Long, Jr., and Sherri Favre and companion, Dan Lennon; his cherished grandchildren, Kileigh Long and Ronald D. Long III; mother, Loretta Zellers Favre; grandmother, Beatrice George; brothers, Michael Favre and James Favre; many extended family members, including cousins, Christy, Shirley, Jonathan, and Jessica George, Rebecca Favre, and Nancy and Kristine Zellers; and his beloved dog, Precious, whom he adored for 17 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Byron L. Favre, in 2003 and by his uncle, Horace Zellers, in 1996.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, August 25, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 200 Continental Drive, Ste. 101, Newark, DE 19713.
