Arnold Vernon Allen, Sr.

March 6, 1938 - November 10, 2013

Arnold Vernon Allen, Sr., 75, of Wilmington, DE and formerly of Elkton, MD passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2013.

Born on March 6, 1938 in Townsend, DE, he was the son of the late William E. and Margaret Leona (McNatt) Allen.

He was retired from Preston Trucking Company, where he dedicated many years as a mechanic.

Mr. Allen was a life member of the New Castle Moose Lodge.  He enjoyed reading and especially loved watching old western movies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Cespedes; a sister, Ruth C. Beal and brother, Edward C. Allen.

He leaves many fond memories to his loving wife of 29 years, Doris L. (Cleaver) Allen; three children, Arnold V. Allen, Jr., Susan M. Brock and Judith L. Wrang; a sister, Mary E. Allen; two brothers, William H. Allen (Roberta) and Richard J. Allen; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and will especially be missed by his loving pure white Bischon Frise, Lucy.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 am on Thursday, November 14 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway in New Castle, DE, where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 – 11:30 am.  Inurnment will be held privately at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Allen’s memory to Manor Care Pike Creek, 5651 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE  19808.
