Arthur A. Long

Arthur A. Long, known fondly as Arty, age 53, of Newark, DE passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014.
Arty was born in Wilmington, Delaware on May 31, 1960, and was a son of the late Donald Long, Sr. and Irene Boyer Long. He made his career as a self-employed painter and worked for many years throughout the local area.
Arty was a longtime member of VFW Post #475 in Newark. An avid football and Dallas Cowboys fan, he enjoyed cheering on his favorite team each season. Arty was a kind-hearted and compassionate friend to many who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his siblings, Donald Long, Jr., Robin D. Guhl (John) and Joan E. Long, all of Newark; nieces, Jennifer Long and Kristina Tidwell (Joe); nephews, D.J. Long and John Guhl (Kristin); great niece, Johanna Fisher; and step mother, Lou Ann Long of Elkton, MD.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday afternoon, March 20, 2014, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where friends and family may visit from 1 pm until 2 pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Arty’s name may be made to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, Second Floor, Newark, DE 19711.
