Arthur P. Waite

Church, East Main and Chapel Streets, Newark, DE 19711, at 11:30 am. Visitation remains at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark.
Arthur P. Waite, age 82, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014.
Arthur was born in Ogdensburg, New York on September 19, 1931 and was the son of the late Arthur Waite and Vivian Edna Phelps Waite. He was raised in North Philadelphia and upon completing his education, would proudly serve his country in the US Air Force. After his honorable discharge from the military, Arthur would make his career as a pipe designer with the DuPont Company where he worked for many years until his retirement.
He was a longtime member of VFW Post #475 in Newark and enjoyed visting there and the many friendships he made. In his leisure time, Arthur liked reading, golfing and vactioning at the beach. He was very fortunate and thankful for the many kind neighbors who watched over him and lent their assistance whenever needed. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff of Griswold Home Care for the exceptional care they provided to Arthur.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary A. McCarthy Waite. Arthur is survived by his children, Arthur J. Waite (Ronda E.) of Bear, Marie V. Stidham (David G.) of Newark and Christina M. Howe (Russell P.) of Wilmington; sister, Joanna Chacho (Edward) of VA; special friend, Gail Daly; 6 grandchildren, Arthur H. Waite, Nathaniel A. Waite, Kyle D. Waite, Sarah L. Stidham, R. Paul Howe and Katie M. Howe; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 10:30 am on Wednesday morning, July 9, 2014 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am at Holy Angels R.C. Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Arthur’s name may be made to the J. Allison O’Daniel VFW Post #475, 100 Veterans Lane, Newark, DE 19711.
