Austin R. “ Bobby” Poist

September 19, 1939 - December 23, 2016

Austin R. Poist, affectionately known as Bobby, age 77, of Delaware City, DE passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016.

Born in Wilmington on September 19, 1939, he was a son of the late Austin L. and Mary (Lanci) Poist. Bobby worked as a foreman in the steel industry for various companies during a career that spanned over 30 years.

A member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, he enjoyed boating and fishing. Bobby was always the life of the party and will be remembered for his infectious laugh and smile. A talented musician, Bobby was a drummer for many years with The Nashville Sounds.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Francis Les Sill. Bobby is survived by his children, Lorraine Laurie Hutchinson (Kevin) of New Castle, Jennifer L. Pritchard (Ken) of Bear, Robert Lance Poist (Sherry) of Middletown, and their mother, Janet Poist; sister, Lorraine Sill of Townsend; grandchildren, Stefanie (Jeff), Kevin, Jacob, Austin, Joey and Sarah; and nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 28th at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Services and interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware City Fire Company, PO Box 251, Delaware City, DE 19706.
