Austin William Stanley, age 85, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 18, 2016.

Born in Cordova, WV on August 22, 1931, he was the son of the late Harley and Delores (Hammons) Stanley. Mr. Stanley proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. He worked as a produce manager at Pathmark, retiring after 29 years of dedicated employment.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Lora Ewell, Robert Stanley and Carrie Hodge; and grandson, Joseph Kashner. Mr. Stanley is survived by his daughter, Gloria Jean Kashner of Red Lion, PA; siblings, Gernie Hudson of Wilmington, Janet Cook of Wilmington, Gladys Wright of Newark, Brenda Budzialek of Elkton, MD and Larry Stanley of Elkton, MD; 1 grandson; 1 great grandson; and 5 great great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 11:45 am on Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. Du Pont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will be held at 11:45 am. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, DE 19701.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at the address listed above.
