11 Condolences for Barbara C. Teter

  • I first met Barbara when she was with the International Literacy Association (ILA) in Newark, DE. She worked with me to fund the Outstanding Reading Educator Award. We formed a good friendship, and I remember numerous conversations when she was considering retirement from ILA. I followed the progress on her house in SC and am so sorry to learn of her passing. I extend my heartfelt sympathy to her family and friends. I will remember our great conversations, her upbeat personality, and wonderful smile. RIP, dear friend.

  • May your fondest memory of Barbara help you change your tears to laughter. We miss her dearly and our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

  • Only knew her a short while but was a pleasure to have known her. I am sure those of you who knew her longer will miss her terribly. My greatest sympathy to her family.

  • I knew her for only a short while, but it was a pleasure to know her. I am sure those who knew her longer will surely miss her. My deepest sympathy to the family!!!

  • What a shock. We are so sorry for your loss. Barbara was a fantastic person, so vibrant and enthusiastic. I’ll never forget she and Drew giving my son, Jeremy, his very first Harry Potter book for his birthday, and it started a long love relationship for Harry Potter! God works in mysterious ways. He must have needed her up in Heaven for a major fundraising event to take her from our world so soon. We will miss the funeral as we will be on vacation, but our thoughts and prayers will be with you in this time of need.

  • I had the pleasure of working with Barb for 3 years at Newark Charter. She wanted to volunteer at the school and we were placed together and instantly became friends. She adored children and came in each week with gifts for the students and a smile that the children waited for every Tuesday morning! I enjoyed our many conversations about her beloved son, daughter-in-law, grand daughter and her brothers. She was so excited to build her home in South Carolina. I am saddened that she was not able to enjoy it longer. Barb was full of life. Her smile cheered up every room she entered. She was a dear friend and will be missed by all.

  • We were truly shocked to learn of Barbara’s passing. I worked with her in the Development Office at the University of Delaware during her years there where she was a wonderful and talented colleague and friend. Unfortunately, we are not able to attend the memorial because we’re spending the entire summer at our camp in southwestern Maine. Do know that I extend my sincere sympathy to her entire family and share their loss.

  • I cannot begin to describe my shock at seeing Barbara’s obituary in today’s newspaper. She and I worked together for several years before I retired. She was a dear friend, as well. She was full of life, not to mention having a dynamite smile. I will miss her dearly..

  • My profound sympathy to Drew and his family and to Barbara’s brothers over the loss of Barbara. We worked together for years at the Medical Center of Delaware and she contributed so much to the success of that organization and to many other community-based not-for-profit organizations in northern Delaware. Barbara was a vibrant presence in so many peoples’ lives, and she leaves us a legacy of effective service in behalf of so many others. May the Lord embrace Barbara throughout eternity.

  • I too was shocked to read of Barbara’s passing. I worked with Barb when she was at the College of Health Sciences at the University of Delaware. She was a vibrant, energizing force and she will be dearly missed. Please know that I extend my deepest sympathy to the family. Unfortunately, I will be unable to make the funeral as I am out of town.
