Barbara Huntley Phillips

Barbara Huntley Phillips, age 80, of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, April 27, 2017.

Barbara was born in Newark, New Jersey on August 19, 1936 and grew up in Orange NJ where she played field hockey for her high school team.

She married Samuel Gordon Phillips and had 4 children, Barbara Anne, Lurline, David and Colleen. After her husband passed away in July 1979, she went to work at the University of Delaware in the Food Services department.

Barbara had a kind and generous personality. She was loved by many and was known for her ability to easily engage in conversation even when meeting people for the first time. During her time at Lorien Riverside Nursing Home, she was named the Valentine’s Day Queen as her ability to spread kindness and love was admired from her fellow residents.

Barbara loved to enter contests, always dreaming she would become the next millionaire so she could help others. She loved spending time with her children, grand children and great grand kids.

Barbara was a loving mother and will be dearly missed her children, her 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandkids.

Services will be held privately at a later date.
