Barbara L. Greenwell
Mrs. Barbara L. Greenwell, age 76, of Delaware City, DE, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013.
A native Delawarean, Mrs. Greenwell was born in Wilmington on April 21, 1936, daughter of the late Leroy Edrice Davis and Bertha E. Sutton Davis. She was a talented homemaker throughout her life and had also worked many happy years as a crossing guard for New Castle County, taking wonderful care of the many children under her charge.
Mrs. Greenwell devoted her life to caring for her family, delighting especially in the company of her beloved grandchildren. A talented baker, she was well known for baking delicious cakes for all family celebrations and holidays and for her community, too. She was also devoted to her beloved pet dog Misty and to animal welfare throughout her life, taking special care of feeding the many friendly squirrels around her home. She also enjoyed trying her luck in lottery drawings.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd T. Greenwell; children, Patti Foraker-Glenn (Dub) of Elkton, MD, Cheryl Nost Griffin of Delaware City, Laura L. Nost (Ralph) of Delaware City, Biggie Nost (Helen) of Port Penn, Joe Nost (Antoinette) of Townsend, and Jake Nost (Hope) of Bear; brother, Ronald Migliavacca (Nancy) of Delaware City; sister, Constance D. Hill of Newark; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Paulie Nost, Ronnie Nost, and Jeffrey Nost.
The family extends their gratitude to her granddaughters, Tia and Lauren, who provided her with such loving and compassionate care. Special thanks, too, to the nurses and staff of the Christiana ICU and to the entire staff of Third Floor E for their many kindnesses to Mrs. Greenwell during her illness.
Funeral services will be held privately.
