Barbara M. Dale Limber Kidd
Barbara was born in Wilmington on March 20, 1941, daughter of the late Mervin and Edith Dale. She bravely fought multiple myeloma for 3 1/2 years before losing her battle on Sunday, January 16, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara graduated from Newark High School, Class of 1959. She worked in her fathers jewelry store, Dales, on Main Street in Newark for many years before taking ownership of the store in 1973 when he retired. She also worked in the fine jewelry department of JCPenney at the Christiana Mall for 18 years before retiring.
Barbara was a member of the Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir. She was a member of and soloist for the Delaware Valley Chorale and also served on the chorales board of directors. Because of her angelic voice, she was frequently requested as a soloist at weddings and funerals.
She is survived by her husband, Robert V. Kidd; sister, Sylvia Williamson (Kenneth); son, Eric Limber (Susan); daughter, Valerie Kidd (Jeff); grandchildren, Dylan and Shane Limber, Brittany, Megan, and Janelle Ferrence; two stepsons; and six step grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Eric Martin, and the staffs of the Helen Graham Cancer Center, Manor Care, and Delaware Hospice for the kindness, care, and concern they gave Barbara.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, January 20, 2011, at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 500 McKennan’s Church Road, Wilmington. A reception will follow in the church hall.
