Barbara Taylor Sousa, age 74, of Dover, DE, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by her family, on Thursday, December 25, 2014.

Born in Wellsville, NY on August 4, 1940, Barbara was the daughter of the late Floyd Russell Taylor, Sr. and Mayrene Harris Taylor. She made her career as a purchasing agent for MBNA, retiring after 20 years of dedicated service.

Barbara was a longtime member of Ogletown Baptist Church in Newark for many years. An avid traveler, she enjoyed vacationing throughout the country and abroad whenever she could. A devoted and loving mother and grandmother, Barbara will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her children, Brian P. Sousa (Rae) of Dover, DE and Debbie A. Cukier (Michael) of St. Joseph, MI; brothers, Floyd Taylor, Jr. of Hercules, CA, Nelson Taylor (Lil) of Warren, ME and David Taylor (Sherri) of Clayton, DE; and 5 grandchildren, Emily and Karen Sousa and Lauren, Matthew and Joshua Cukier.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday morning, December 30, 2014, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in White Clay Creek Cemetery, 15 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, DE.

  • Please extend my sympathy to the family. My family remembers Barbara as being a very gracious lady, and dedicated member at Ogletown Baptist Church when she lived in the area. I am sorry for your loss.

  • Debbie and Brian……I was so sorry to hear of the death of Barbara. I didn’t know she had suffered a stroke. It doesn’t seem that long ago that I spoke with her in Target. I always thought she was such a pretty lady and my mother had liked her (Jessie Acord). Mom passed two yrs ago. Please accept my sympathy. I pray God will comfort you all and the rest of the family.
