Beatrice M. (Thomas) Stiles

Beatrice M. (Thomas) Stiles, age 90, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at Seasons Hospice after a short illness on Monday, July 16, 2018.

Born in Danville, PA on October 6, 1927, she was the youngest of five children to the late Harold and Gladys (Sammons) Thomas. Beatrice met Willis Thomas in January 1946 and they married in November. Together they raised 3 children. She worked at Christiana Mall and Concord Mall in the 1980’s in sales, as well as in food service with DuPont Company in the 1990’s. Bea was a very good chief domestic engineer, a caring mother, always generous and a good friend to many. She will be dearly missed.

The family would like to thank the New Castle Health and Rehab personnel for the excellent care she received for the last 2 years, as well as to Seasons Hospice for their care and compassion in her final days.

In addition to her parents, Beatrice was preceded in death by her first husband, Willis; second husband, Willard Stiles; and siblings, Harold, Jr., Virginia, Ethel and Robert. She is survived by her children, Sandra L. Nowell (Bucky) of Wilmington, David R. Thomas, Sr. (Sharon) of Middletown and Beatrice K. Berg (Peter) of Hockessin; 7 grandchildren, David, Jr., Erin, Stephen, Tara, Jeff, Jason and Megan; and 13 great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be from 11 am until 12 noon on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
