Betty (Knaak) Kessler-Fisher

Betty (Knaak) Kessler-Fisher, age 90, of Elkton, MD, formerly of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2014.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 23, 1923, Betty was a daughter of the late John B. Knaak and Leona Jacobson Knaak. She proudly served her country in the US Navy during WWII. Betty attended Goldey Beacom College and would later make her career as a seamstress specializing in the bridal industry for over 40 years. She wed her first husband, Warren Kessler in 1946 and the two would share 34 years of marriage until his passing in 1980. In 1988, Betty married Ralph A. Fisher, who died in 1991.
Betty was active in her community and giving of her time. She was a volunteer for numerous organizations over the years and was especially involved with the grief support program at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home. Betty was an avid reader and life-long learner who enjoyed attending self-improvement classes. She was an outgoing and positive person who was happiest when giving to others.
She was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Kessler in 1978 and daughter, Deborah Canny in 1987. Betty is survived by her son, Steven W. Kessler and wife, Cindy Kessler, of Kingwood, TX; daughter, Kimberly S. Titus and husband, Melvin D. Titus, of North East, MD; brother, Richard Knaak of Cudhy, WI; grandsons, Sean and Aaron Canny; granddaughters, Charlene Morris and Ashley and Lauren Kessler; 2 great grandchildren, Kimberly and William Morris, 8 nephews; 2 nieces; and her dear friend, Betty Beam.
A memorial service and interment will be held privately.

I visited Betty at Abby Manor with my dog Meisha. We are volunteers from PAWS for People. Betty loved to have Meisha sit in the chair with her and pet her while we chatted. She was such a lovely, beautiful and strong woman. I always look forward to my visits with her and I will dearly miss her.

My dog, Dudlee, and I visited Betty at Abbey Manor as well. We looked forward to our visits with her every week. She was a dear friend of Dudlee’s and they would just love on each other and snuggle up for the time that we could spend with her. We both will greatly miss her. Our condolences to your family.
