Blanche Elizabeth Phillips
Mrs. Blanche Elizabeth Phillips, age 85, of Orlando, FL, formerly of New Castle, DE, died on Saturday, June 19, 2010, in Winter Park, FL.
Born in Bowling Green, VA, on June 30, 1924, Mrs. Phillips was a daughter of the late George Montreville Gray and Nannie Elizabeth Maddox Gray. She made her career as a professional secretary with the DuPont Company, working in the treasurers department in Wilmington until her retirement. Active in her community, Mrs. Phillips was a longtime member of the Asbury U.M. Church in New Castle and was also involved in local Republican politics in the 1970s. She enjoyed traveling throughout her life, as well as reading and flower gardening.
Her beloved husband, Malcolm W. Woody Phillips, died in 1985. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Hagerty Kamm (John) of Orlando, FL; sisters, Frances Riddle (George) and Jeanette Wedman (the late Edward) of New Castle, DE; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Phillips may be made to the American Lung Association, 1021 Gilpin Avenue, Wilmington, DE 19806.
