He spent many happy hours on the water crabbing with family and friends, a hobby he enjoyed throughout his life. Bun, along with his wife Jean, enjoyed entertaining at their pool and hosting family gatherings.

Jean and Bun possessed a keen interest in politics and spent countless hours working on many Democratic campaigns beside their dear friend, Senator Bethany Hall Long.

During the past few years, Bun enjoyed attending services at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with his granddaughter, Lauren Jean. He will always be remembered as a devoted father, loving Popie, uncle, and friend. His warm caring smile touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years in Janaury of 2015, Jean Odell (Webber) Slaughter; sister, Frances Hilliard and brother, Curtis Slaughter.
