Burton W. Schaen, Sr.

January 18, 1932 - March 12, 2018

Burton W. Schaen, Sr., age 86, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018.

Born in Newark, DE on January 18, 1932, he was the son of the late William and Anna E. (Lloyd) Schaen. After graduating from Newark High School in 1950, Burton proudly served his country in the US Navy. He made his career with the DuPont Company for 40 years, retiring in 1992. Burton was an avid bass fisherman and a fan of the Delaware Blue Hens and Philadelphia Eagles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Elisa A. Thorpe. Burton is survived by his wife of 25 years, Patricia A. (Naples) Schaen; children, Elaine G. Burris (Mike), Evelyn J. Capodanno (Michael), Burton W. Schaen, Jr. (Brenda), Donna Mower-Wade (Austin), Christopher D. Mower and Benjamin E. Ruger; grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Joshua, Amanda, Jacob, Alexis, Nicole, Kayla, Brandon, Tyler, and Brianna; and 7 great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE where a service will begin at 11 am.  A committal service with military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, payable to: The State of  Delaware and send to the address above.
