Carl N. Ham
Mr. Carl N. Ham, known fondly as Pop, age 78, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2011, at his home.
Born in Horse Creek, NC, on June 8, 1933, Mr. Ham was the son of the late Elzie Ham and Lula Greer Ham. He proudly served his country in the US Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. A diesel mechanic by profession, he was employed with Moss Transport in Bear until his retirement in 1995. Mr. Ham was an avid outdoorsman throughout his life and particularly enjoyed camping and fishing.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Berdia Leslie Ham; children, Carla Ham of New Castle, Rick Ham (Johann) of Middletown, Karen Nunez (Armando) of New Castle, John Ham (Christine) of New Castle, and Christina Ham (Sam Ames) of Wilmington; and grandchildren, Ruth, Scott, Shaun, Eric, Armando, Alberto, Justin, Caitlyn, and Alex. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Grace Carpenter, Jim Ham, Essie Carpenter, and Herman Ham; and son-in-law, Jim Dawson.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, June 17, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 1 pm. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
