  • Deb,
What a beautiful picture of your Mom. My sincere sympathy to you. Hold your wonderful memories close and be thankful for having her as long as you have. God works in mysterious ways.

  • Deborah. “Stump” was the middle son of my
Uncle Franklin and Aunt Almedia. When he passed away I was unable to attend his service.
I knew his younger brother, Bill, much better while my two sisters also knew his oldest brother, John, from the days when he was a Wilmington policeman on horseback.
I’m truly sorry you have now lost both parents.
Carmen is 11 months younger than me – she was a beautiful woman. Hold onto all your good memories and let the rest go.

I think your father was named after my father,
Baynard O. Whittington. My Dad was the youngest of the siblings. When he was 3 months old his Mom died and he was sent to live with another family. Your grandfather and the only Whittington sister, Gladys Smith, kept in touch with him after he was grown. In the early 50’s my sisters and I were able to reconnect with both of them. So I knew of your Dad but never actually met him… his Navy duty had him away from Wilmington a lot.
Please feel free to contact either me or my youngest sister, Nancy Jane Willis, if you ever want to connect with your cousins. We lost our middle sister, Betty Lou, last August. She had just turned 77.
May God Bless you as you move ahead.

Thank you so much for your message. I would love to connect with Nancy & yourself. I don’t know if you are able to join me Wednesday for my mom’s service, but if not please let me know how I can get in touch with you. I don’t want to post my personal information openly, but if you are on Facebook, I have an account under Deborah Whittington (DE) or we can connect through Spicer Mullikin or you can send me an email.

  • Deb,

You have my condolences on the loss of your mother. I’m sorry I never got to meet her. Remember the good times!

  • Dear Debbie,
I was a good friend with your mother when she was growing up and lived with her Mom and Dad
and brother Albert on 3rd and Washington Sts. in Wilmington. My family lived just across the
street at 412 W. Third St. Carmen was almost 2 years older than me. I just turned 80 this year.
I have very fond memories of our friendship over the years. Since her parents both worked, I would
visit with her after school while she did her chores. Your grandparents were so nice to me. they would often give us some change to get candy at the corner store. My family moved away in 1947 and
the last time I visited with your mother, she was married and lived around 40th and Washington
across from the Sears store. Your Dad was in the navy. Your mother gave me some clothes that
did not fit her any more and to this day, my husband talks about seeing me walk up the street
with red plaid shorts and blouse with white pique trim. That was an outfit your mother gave me.
I now live in Denton, Texas with my husband Merritt. We moved here to be near our son and
daughter and their families in our retirement. this may get to you too late, but I just found out on
the internet that your Mom had passed. I will never forget her Debbie. I would love to hear from
    you if you receive this.
    Love, Alberta
