CELESTE G. MICHEL

Born October 3, 1931

Celeste G. Michel, of Newark, DE, has passed away at the age of 83, on November 21st, 2014, at the Christiana Hospital in Newark. She was surrounded by her loving family and showed remarkable grace and strength to the end.

Celeste was born in Howard Beach, NY, on October 3, 1931, the daughter of Pellegrino Fabrizio and Rose Fabrizio. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Celeste had a vibrant personality and will be remembered for her character, kindness, and generosity. Those fortunate enough to have known her well will especially miss her lively humor and conversation.

A devout Catholic, Celeste was a member of St. Margaret of Scotland Church. She attended mass daily, drawing comfort and strength from her faith and the relationships she formed within her parish community. She took great pride in her home and was a marvelous hostess. She loved listening to music, travelling, and spending time in the company of loved ones.

Celeste is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Charles A. Michel; her children, Regina Michel of New York, NY, Susan M. Michel of New Castle, DE, Ann-Marie Michel of Wray, UK, and Brian D. Michel and his wife Theresa Michel of Newark, DE; sister, Rose M. Jeschke of Silver Spring, MD, and brother, Richard P. Fabrizio of New York, NY; and grandchildren Nicolas Wäckers, Henry Michel, and Thomas Michel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kevin C. Michel, and brothers, Michael A. and Felix F. Fabrizio.

A viewing will be held on Monday, December 1, 2014, where family and friends may visit from 5pm until 7pm at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE 19711. A second viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 2nd, from 9:30am until 10:30am at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am at St. Margaret of Scotland Roman Catholic Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

  • Celeste was a wonderful, beautiful, person and an outstanding Grandma. She always made me feel a welcome part of any family gathering and it was a great pleasure to have known her since our families were joined. I will miss her heartfelt hug whenever we met and her love for our grandchildren. My deepest sympathy at the loss all of you feel. Her memory will be in your hearts forever.
