Charles "Chas" J. Day - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Charles “Chas” J. Day

Charles J. Day (Chas) age 69 of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2018 surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Chas was the son of the late Margaret (Peg) Dankewich and Joseph Day. He is survived by his loving wife Debbie Day of 16 years, and her parents Mr. & Mrs. Edward Dempsey.

Chas will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Stacy Wood (Adam), and Keri Nicholson. His step children, Brooke Launi Souder (Dave), Jennifer Dell’Aquila (Michael), Todd Launi. His two grandchildren, Addison and Evan; Step Grandchildren, Mackenzie, Peyton, Sully, Michael Brayden, Ryan, Tyler, Kelsey, Gabe and Kendall, along with extended family and dear friends.

Chas (don’t call me Charles) will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will be most remembered for his sense of humor as he always had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. There was nothing Chas liked better than conversation with a new friend, and he made them wherever he went. He had a passion for music, and spent many years in various bands who were well known around the Newark area. He was also a history buff, with extensive knowledge of Abraham Lincoln. He loved to talk history with anyone who would listen. He also loved his Philadelphia Phillies, and at the start of every season, he would say I really think they have a chance this year. (Fingers crossed!)

Chas retired from Republic Services of Wilmington, DE, as a sanitation worker in 2010, and always took great pride in his job.

He will be missed by his beloved dogs, Eddie and Murphy.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 6 pm on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, Delaware, where a memorial service will immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Chas’s memory to American Heart Association,
