Charles R. Tucker, Sr. “Bob”

Mr. Charles R. Tucker, Sr. Bob died at Christiana Hospital after a short illness, with his family by his side. He married Nancy L. Quinn on September 29, 1951. Enlisted in the US Navy in July of 1946 and retired on February 1, 1968 with rate of Chief Radioman. He served on various ships including the Aircraft Carrier, USS Randolph and on the Cuban Missile, Blockage. After his retirement from the Navy he joined the staff of the Delaware Correctional Center in New Castle, Smyrna, and Young Correctional Center rising to the rank of Captain and retired from the Delaware Correctional Center in 1989. Bob enjoyed going to the beach, fishing, hunting and especially golfing and getting that hole-in-one and shooting his age in 2002. Bob also liked to tinker with his cars and lawn mowers but what brought the most joy to his life was the love he had for his large family of 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, and spending time with them especially during the holidays. He always lived his life his way.
Mr. Tucker is survived by his loving wife of 62 ½ years, Nancy L. Quinn Tucker; sons, Charles R. Tucker, Jr., (Miranda), Stephen M. Tucker (Chien-yu); daughter, Joan Darsney (Kenny); and many nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Frances Tucker; sisters, Mary A. Pillow, Betty J. Harmon, Margaret L. Vanater, Nancy L. Singleton, and Doris M. Shamblin; and twin brother, John Jack Tucker.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon, on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, where family and friends may visit after 10am. Interment will be at Head of Christiana Cemetery, 1100 Church Road, Newark.
