Charlotte Reber

January 27, 1927 - December 9, 2016

Charlotte Reber, age 89, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2016.

Born in Nanticoke, PA on January 27, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Emily (Miller) Motto.  Charlotte retired from George Read Middle School after 30 years serving as the baker in the school cafeteria.  She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in New Castle and was a past president of the Wilmington Manor Lions Club.

Charlotte will be remembered for her caring nature and dry sense of humor.  She loved a good laugh and enjoyed time spent with her late husband of 61 years, Austin W. Reber, Sr.  The memory of her charitable spirit and her love of family and friends will remain in our hearts forever.  Charlotte greatly enjoyed the Christmas season and looked forward to preparing a variety of cookies for her children and grandchildren and their families to take home.

In addition to her parents and husband, Charlotte was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Motto and sisters, Grace Temple, Helen Bickleman and Evelyn Hauger. She is survived by her children, Austin W. Reber, Jr. (Mimi) of Tuscaloosa, AL and Jean E. Zistl (Dennis) of Newark, DE; 4 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Comfort Keepers and Brookdale White Chapel.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday morning, December 15, 2016, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Seasons Hospice of Delaware, 220 Continental Drive, Ste. 101, Newark, DE 19713 or to the Wilmington Manor Lions Club, P.O. Box 569, Manor Branch, New Castle, DE 19720.
