Born June 20, 1950

Christopher John Barlow, age 63, of New Castle, DE passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013.
Born in Upland, PA on June 20, 1950, Mr. Barlow was a son of the late Joseph L. Barlow, Sr. and Alice Donohue Barlow. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps before being honorably discharged, and then went on to attend Penn State University. Mr. Barlow was employed with Septa’s Regional Rail System in Philadelphia, where he worked as an engineer.
He was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church. Additionally, Mr. Barlow was a member of both the Joseph B. Stahl American Legion Post #30 and Our Lady of Fatima Council #11469 of the Knights of Columbus.
An avid sports fan, he enjoyed cheering for the Phillies, Eagles, and Nittany Lions. Above all else, he was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle who will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph L. Barlow, Jr. Mr. Barlow is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Carol E. Gordon Barlow; sons, Christopher James Barlow, Sr. of New Castle, DE and Jeffrey Thomas Barlow of Hanover, MD; sisters, Linda Krawiec of Bear, DE and Jackie Galantic of Westville, NJ; and grandchildren, Ashley Ann Barlow, Christopher James Barlow, Jr., and Erika Renee Barlow.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 Noon on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where friends may call from 10:30 am until 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

  • I am deeply saddened to hear of Chris passing. We served together in the Marine Corps and I had many good times and memories with Chris. He had the most infectious smile and a laugh that was unforgettable. My condolences to his wife and family. I only wish I had stayed in touch with Chris over the years. He was a good human being.
