Christopher Robert Younker, age 35, of Newark, DE, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 26, 2017.

A native Delawarean, Chris was born in Wilmington, DE on August 8, 1981, and was the son of Robert L. Younker, Jr. and Donna L. (Austin) Younker. He worked as an auto body technician for the Union Park Automotive Group in Wilmington.

A proud volunteer firefighter, Chris was a member of the Christiana Fire Company. He was a past member of Boy Scout Troop No. 92 in Bear. A doting uncle, Chris adored his 3 nieces and was especially proud of his role of godfather to niece, Laila. He will be remembered for his heart of gold and for his unwavering support of family and friends during their times of need.

Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert L. Younker, Sr. He is survived by his parents, Robert and Donna, with whom he lived; brother, Jeffrey Younker (Terri) of Wilmington; sister, Kimberly Kaucz (Daniel) of Newport; maternal grandparents, Edward and Claire Austin of Wilmington; paternal grandmother, Geraldine Younker of Murfressboro, TN; nieces, Caileigh, Laila and Riley; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Friday evening, March 3, 2017 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday afternoon, March 4, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market Street, Ste. 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106 or to Five Points Fire Company, 209 S. Maryland Ave., Wilmington DE 19804.

  • Fern Court lost a piece of our legacy. The elders of the Court watched our youth grow into adulthood. Chris left way to soon but left his mark on those of us who knew him. May he find peace in the arms of the lord.

    I am so sorry to hear of Chris’ passing.
    Chris will always be remembered as a sweet, kind, caring guy. He always had a smile on his face. He was a respectful, especially to me, even though I was no longer part of the Younker family, he to this day called me Aunt Janet. I’ll always remember him & cherish all the fond memories throughout the years.
