Clarence C. Seifen

April 18, 1918 - June 8, 2016

Clarence C. Seifen, known fondly as “Bud,” age 98, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.

Bud was born in Muskegon, MI on April 18, 1918, and was a son of the late Christian Frederick and Tressa (Trim) Seifen. He made his career as a parts department procurer with the Chrysler Corporation in Newark. Following his retirement from Chrysler in 1980, Bud accepted a position as a bus driver with Murray Transportation, where he worked for a number of years.

A man of strong faith, he was a longtime parishioner of Holy Family Church in Newark, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Michael Council No. 4548. Bud was an accomplished photographer and especially enjoyed portrait work. He was an avid collector of both miniature cars and Emmett Kelly clown memorabilia. Above all else, Bud was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be very dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lucille A. (Fogal) Seifen; sister, Cecelia Watson (Sebe); and son-in-law, Joe Murray. Bud is survived by his children, Christine Moore (Michael) of Orlando, FL, Charlene Jeanes (David) of Claymont, DE, Kevin Seifen (Christine) of Newark, DE, Kim Seifen (Evelyn) of Clovis, NM, Kerry Seifen (Luann) of Canonsburg, PA and Colleen Murray of Bear, DE; sister-in-law, Eileen Butlin of Grosse Ile, MI; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Tuesday evening, June 14, 2016 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. A second visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Wednesday morning, June 15, 2016 at Holy Family R.C. Church, E. Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark, DE 19713, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am.

Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bud’s memory may be made to Holy Family R.C. Church at the address listed above.

  • I was fortunate enough to have known Bud, and he was my assistant in Religous Ed at Holy Family. The children loved his stories and so did I. One day he invited my whole family over his house for a visit. He was so kind and my kids at the time loved his organ that he had in his home. He was such a wonderful man, I will miss him. Miss his smile at church too. I will always remember your kind ways Bud, God has taken one of the “very good ones” to heaven now. May God continue to bless you, and keep you in His loving arms.

  • I knew Bud not only from seeing him at mass but by knowing his sons Kevin and Kerry and how they honor their dad by being true gentlemen towards all the meet. My thoughts and prayers go to all the family in this time.
