Colleen Mary Warner
Mrs. Colleen Mary Warner, age 85, of Newark, DE, died on Monday, June 20, 2011, at Christiana Hospital.
Mrs. Warner was born in Gilmore, MD, on February 20, 1926, daughter of the late Augustus M. Elkins and Margaret Devine Elkins. A talented homemaker throughout her life, she was a particularly gifted seamstress and quilter and had also worked as a private housekeeper.
In earlier years, she was an avid traveler and had visited many interesting places across the United States. A devout Catholic, she was a longtime member of Holy Family parish.
Mrs. Warner devoted her life to caring for her family and was at her happiest when spending time with her beloved children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by the many people who loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Warner, and a son, Charles Mergenthaler. She is survived by her children, Robert Mose (Frances) of Wilmington, Bernard Mose (Evelyn) of Newark, Margaret Peggy Stant (David) of Newark, Thomas Mergenthaler (Cathy) of Hockessin, Augustus Mergenthaler (Cecilia) of West Chester, PA, and John Mergenthaler (Sandy) of Ambler, PA; stepsons, Charles Warner (Ruthann) of Stuarts Draft, VA, James Warner (Mary) of Phoenix, AZ, and S. Craig Warner (Judy) of Huntington, WV; 15 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to Dr. Khaja Yezdani for his care and kindness during Mrs. Warners illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 pm on Friday, June 24, 2011, at Holy Family R.C. Church, E. Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark, where visitation will begin at 11 am. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.
