Constantine “Gus” Sfakianos

Constantine Gus Sfakianos, age 86, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011, at Milford Memorial Hospital.


Born in Chester, PA, on May 9, 1925, Mr. Sfakianos was the son of the late Stavros Sfakianakis of Pilos, Greece, and Evangelia Tachika Sfakianakis of Thessaloniki, Greece. He proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II and was a veteran of the June 6, 1944 D-Day invasion of Normandy at Utah Beach.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Sfakianos of Shade, OH. He is survived by his daughter, Irene Sfakianos of Philadelphia, PA; brother, Emanuel Sfakianos of Virginia Beach, VA; sisters, Ann Hoyle of Tarpon Springs, FL, and Pauline Morris of Newark, DE; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.


A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, July 25, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.


In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Delaware Veterans Boulevard, Milford, DE 19963.
