Courtland W. Whitesell, Jr., age 83, of Camden Wyoming, DE, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.

Born in Wilmington, DE on September 3, 1933, he was the son of the late Courtland W. Whitesell, Sr. and Ida Elizabeth (Broomall) Whitesell. After graduating from A.I. DuPont High School, Courtland proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Hercules as a carpenter after 38 years of service.

Courtland is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Mary Louise Whitesell; sisters, Jean E. Carr; and Louise M. Owensby; sister-in-law, Florence M. Legates; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 11 am on Tuesday morning, February 7, 2017 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am. Entombment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah 84741.
