CSM George W. Higgins, US Army – Retired

Born November 25, 1929

Our proud and much loved soldier, CSM George W. Higgins, US Army “ Retired, age 84, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014.

He was born in Helena, Montana on November 25, 1929 to the late Walter M. and Mary A. Higgins. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1950 and during his 27 year career, served in Korea, Vietnam, Germany and several U.S. installations.

After retirement, he attended Wilmington College to earn his MBA. Upon graduating, he stayed on as Financial Aid Officer and Veterans Affairs Coordinator.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William R. Higgins. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pauline; daughters Paula A. Higgins and Georgia M. Higgins (all of Newark); brothers James L. Higgins and Gerry M. Higgins (in Montana), Donald R. Higgins (in Oregon); as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to either a favorite veteran’s charity or favorite animal welfare charity.
