Cynthia Jean Curran

September 3, 1957 - September 20, 2013

Cynthia Jean Curran, age 56, of New Castle, DE, died comfortably at Christiana Hospital on Friday, September 20, 2013.
Daughter of James and Josephine Curran, Cindy was born in Chester, PA, and moved to Delaware at age two. She began to positively impact the lives of all who came to know her as an independently-minded individual with Profound Down’s Syndrome.
Cindy enjoyed listening and marching to the music of John Phillips Sousa, as she should have as a daughter of a United States Marine. She enjoyed performing amazing one-handed juggling feats with a tennis ball. Cindy attended school at Easter Seals throughout most of her life. In 1977, she was recognized at the Annual Blue-Gold All Star Game, with her brother Jamie, a member of the Gold Team. It had been the first time in Delaware history that a recipient of the proceeds of the game had a sibling playing the game.
Cindy was preceded in death by father, James, and grandparents, Harry and Elizabeth Curran and James and Josephine Badame. She is survived by her mother, Josephine; sister, Agnes; brother, Jamie, and sister-in-law, Karen; niece, Claire Elizabeth Curran; and nephew, Benjamin James Curran. She came from a large family of many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cindy’s family of protectors and caregivers was the staff of Mosaic for most of her adult life.
Our earthly angel is now among the heavenly angels. Cindy’s services will be held privately and she will be buried at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Easter Seals Society, 61 Corporate Circle, New Castle, DE 19720.
