Dale E. Leber
March 18, 1931 - February 6, 2018
Dale E. Leber, age 86, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2018.
Born in Pottstown, PA on March 18, 1931, he was a son of the late John and Alice (Bell) Leber. His mother passed away shortly after his birth and he was raised at the Bethany Orphans Home in Wormelsdorf, PA. He then attended the Thomas Patton Masonic Trade School for boys in Elizabethtown, PA.
After serving in Korea with the 3rd division, he attended the Charles Morris Price School of Advertising and Journalism in Philadelphia. He later graduated, in just 3 years from Millersville State College (now University) with a Bachelor of Science.
Dale began his teaching career at Oxford Area School District and continued at Bancroft Elementary School in Wilmington, retiring after 28 years of dedicated service. He retired in 1990, helping shape nearly 3000 children’s lives. He was a Christian and life member of the N.E.A and V.F.W. Post 475, as well as having served as Chaplain of Hiram Lodge #25, A.F. & A.M. Newark, DE.
Dale is survived by his wife of 44 years, June (Ray) Leber; nephew/stepson, Robert Wilson Leber; 2 dear step-grandchildren, Kelley M. Leber and Lauren R. Leber, who are also his great nieces.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 10:45 am on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a masonic service will begin at 10:45 am. Funeral service will follow at 11 am. Interment will be held privately at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Ephrata, PA.

Mr. Leber was my fourth grade teacher at Bancroft Elementary School in 1981 .
Mr. Leber taught me to enjoy learning math. He was my favorite teacher of my entire school life and that’s why I will never forget the time he took to teach me when everyone else gave up on me.

To the family of Mr. Leber,
I want to send my most deeply felt condolences. Mr. Leber had a huge impact on a 9 year old little girl from the Eastside of Wilmington, Delaware. Mr. Leber was my homeroom teacher in the fourth grade.
He was also my Math and Science teacher. Mr. Leber recognized my dislike for math and decided to put me in the front of the class. I hated the fact that he did this and at the time I just felt like I was being picked on.
This is where I flourished and learned my times tables. We played many math games in his class and I appreciated the attention from a very well respected man. Mr. Leber showed myself and other children true care and how to conduct yourself with professionalism. I once received and invitation from his beloved wife to attend his birthday party. I really never had a teacher after him that cared enough at all let alone to teach me math. So of course I will always remember the lessons I learned in this class back in 1981. After high school in 199O I joined the U. S Army. When I came home on leave I when to visit Bancroft and found out Mr. Leber had retired. Thank you Mr. Leber if I didn’t get a chance to say it back then. My God bless your family and make life easy on them.
