Daniele Marie (Grimaldi) Albanese

May 31, 1970 - January 21, 2016

Daniele Marie (Grimaldi) Albanese, age 45, of Milford, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2016.

A native Delawarean, Daniele was born in Wilmington on May 31, 1970, and was the daughter of Ann (Sill) Herrin and David Grimaldi, Sr. Her mission in life was working with special needs students at the John G. Leach School in New Castle.

Daniele was a member of the Breast Cancer Coalition where she served as a mentor for others battling cancer and had recently begun writing a blog chronicling her own fight. She adored the beach and looked forward to walks with her husband, Frank and their dog, Chewy where they spent hours searching for sea glass that she would use to design beautiful pieces of breast cancer awareness jewelry. In her leisure time, Daniele loved barbecues with family and friends and looked forward to attending her husband’s shows where she spent hours dancing and hanging out with the wives and friends of fellow band members. She will be remembered by all for her ability to light up a room with her contagious smile and inner beauty.

In addition to her parents, Daniele is survived by her husband, Francis Joseph Frank Albanese; sons, Frank and Jake Blunt; mother in law, Elvie Albanese; stepfather, Woodie Herrin; brother, David Grimaldi, Jr. (Katrina); a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and extended members of the Albanese family; and cats and devoted canine companion, Chewy.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 pm on Wednesday afternoon, February 3, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720, where a visitation will be held from 2 pm until 3:30 pm. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to assist Daniele’s family in defraying medical expenses may be sent in care of the funeral home at the address listed above.

  • I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one in death is such a difficult thing to experience. Please be comforted by the promises in the Bible. At John 5:28, 29 Jesus tells us that all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out. What a loving provision put in place by the God of all comfort so we can have the assured hope of seeing our dead loved ones live again one day. Meanwhile as I pray for that day to come I ask God to bless your family and give each of you the strength to endure this most trying time.

  • Daniele (Grimaldi) Albanese, I am so blessed that I had the chance to be your friend and how later on we became Best Friends. We had so many good times together as we grew together in life, whether it was going thru school, our proms, boyfriends, getting married, having our children, having our health issues we were always there for each other no matter what. You were always a ray of sunshine to be around. No one could ever ask for a better friend than you, you were definitely the kindest, sweetest, gentlest and most of all fun spirited an loving person anyone would have endured to know. I’m so lost an overwhelmed with sadness that God chose to take you this early in life, but at same time I’m so happy that you have to fight no more of being sick.Your definitely going to be very missed but always remembered in my heart. R.I.P. DANIELE. WILL ALWAYS LOVE YA.
