David E. Clark
Mr. David E. Clark, age 80, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at his home.
Born in South Bend, IN, on April 27, 1932, Mr. Clark proudly and honorably served his country in the US Army Reserve for 34 years before his retirement as a sergeant major. Among his many notable achievements during his military career, he was the founder of the highly-successful Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program in Delaware. He was also a member of the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy of the Delmarva Peninsula.
In civilian life, Mr. Clark was a sales and management professional. He spent much of his career as a regional sales manager in the chemical manufacturing industry and would later accept a position as a sales professional in the lighting industry.
A devout Catholic throughout his life, Mr. Clark was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima parish and a former member of the Knight of Columbus in New Jersey. He had also been a member of the Wilmington Manor Lions Club and the Elks Club of Newark.
Mr. Clark was the beloved husband of Audrey Ellyn Bonnie Leith Clark; the devoted father of Bonnie-Jean Tsaldaris and husband Nick of Wilmington, and Heather E. Clark of New Castle; the cherished grandfather of Samuel David, Anna Grace, Matthew David, Leonardo David, and Nicholas George; and the loving brother of Stanley Clark, Jr. of Bartlett, IL, and Jane Martin of Stanford, CT. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Elford, mother, Mary Catherine McCarthy Clark, and stepfather, Stanley Clark.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of Delaware Hospice for their many kindnesses to Mr. Clark during his illness.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear.
