David E. Massey

Born January 5, 1946

David E. Massey, age 68, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 16, 2014.

Dave was born in Wilmington on January 5, 1946, and was the only child of the late Harry C. Massey and Margaret Ort Massey. After attending college, he would make his career as a laboratory technician in the chemical industry.

One of the original founding members of the Corvette Club of Northern Delaware, Dave had a passion for restoring 1963-1967 mid-series Corvettes. He was an avid collector of coins and stamps and also greatly enjoyed collecting historical firearms from both WWI and WWII. A lover of all animals, Dave provided a loving home over the years for his Shetland sheepdogs and domestic cats. He was a devoted husband, father and friend who will be dearly missed.

Dave is survived by his wife of 21 years, Dorothy Dee Malan (Williams) Massey; and children, Mark Malan (Glenn Ramirez III) of Los Angeles, CA and Elizabeth Malan of Columbia, SC.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm Friday evening, August 22, 2014 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday morning, August 23, 2014, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery, Lancaster Ave. and DuPont Rd., Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dave’s name may be made to the Delaware Humane Association, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
